Frank Boyer was in the 24th Infantry of the U.S. Army, “he took part in quelling a Navajo rebellion at Shiprock, Arizona.” Frank recalled participating in the rounding up of “Indian insurrectionists in the famous ‘Crazy Snake Rebellion’ in the Creek Nation of Indian Territory where Henrietta, Oklahoma is today.” Frank also “helped layout Fort Huachuca in southeastern Arizona.’” One lesson learned by Frank during his military service; sovereignty was life or death. After conquering the fear of death, Frank returned to Georgia and was discharged from the Army joined the ministry and became a freemason.
